Pool lift inspections are an important part of any maintenance plan. All lifts regardless of types should be inspected annually to make sure all components are safe and operating correctly. The most common failure is simply that the battery goes bad from not being charged on a regular basis. These common elements should be maintained on a regular schedule:
- Seat should be kept clean and seat belt should be checked to make sure it locks.
- The complete structure should be inspected to make sure no corrosion is building up on the surface.
- All hardware, such as nuts and bolts should be inspected for tightness and corrosion/pitting.
Preventative care includes the following steps:
- After the unit has been used, rinse the surface and seat with fresh water.
- 3-4 times per year apply a liquid car wax. This will add a layer of protection.
- Replace any pitted or corroded hardware.
- The most important maintenance item for battery powered lifts if making sue the battery is fully charged. Never allow the battery to fully discharge. This can damage the battery. Keep the battery on a charger when the lift is not in use.
- Try to keep the control box dry, cover the control box or complete lift when not in use.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires public accommodations to provide goods and services to people with disabilities on an equal basis with the rest of the general public. This includes swimming pools and spas.
